“I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.”
                                    -Audrey Hepburn

The perfect way to describe my day. I hope yours was as good as mine.

Such a charming man!

Such a charming man!

Because the times, they do change

“No person is your friend who demands your silence, or denies your right to grow.”

- Alice Walker

I have never been one who seeks friendship yet I have always had the good fortune of being found by it. I am not one to boast of many friends because as I’ve said I am too shy to pursue them. Yet I am secure enough to know that the introduction of new friendships will not affect the ones I already have. I believe that people must find their own individual identity, away from a group dynamic. If we become close to new people, if we feel comfortable with them; these friendships should be embraced by others rather than excluded because they are not threats. In the end we are all capable of making up our own minds, of making our own decisions. I have friends because of their love and support not because I need to be dictated on what I can and cannot do. We must all be secure in ourselves and accept that change is inevitable yet if we embrace it, the results may be wonderful.

GIFT OF THE MAGI (SORT OF BUT NOT REALLY)

This year will be my first Christmas with my boyfriend. For the longest time I had no idea what I would get him because I wanted his gift to be really awesome. Ultimately I decided to go with tickets to The Adicts’ concert in January, which I believe made me the best girlfriend ever!!!! (but not really). A couple of days ago, because I was paranoid that he might have plans for that day and because we can’t keep secrets, (not to mention he’s paranoid too) I ended up telling him what I had gotten him only to find out he had gotten me tickets to the Social D Concert in February. For some reason our situation sort of reminded me of The Gift of the Magi. For those unfamiliar with the story there’s a link at the bottom . (I really encourage you to read it, its a great Christmas story) Anyways as I told my friend about it, I realized that there were minimal if any similarities between the situations. The Gift of the Magi is a story about making a sacrifice for someone you love. Unlike lovely Della and her chestnut hair,I have sacrificed nothing. I like The Adicts and my boyfriend loves Social D. For some reason though I haven’t stopped thinking about the story all day. I thought about people who have made sacrifices for me, like my parents, and people I have made sacrifices for. Its sad to say that there weren’t many people in the latter list. Its sad because I can think of so many people I love. However rather than wallowing in self-loathing, I have decided to do something about it instead. What  will I do? I don’t know yet but I’ll keep you posted.
